Part 3 – The Lord is My Healer                                              Surrey 10am Service

Sermon Series Text: Psalm 23                              Vancouver 11:30am Service

Dear Lord, You are my Shepherd; You are everything I’ll ever need. You make me to lie down in green pastures; You lead me beside the still waters. You restore my soul; You lead me in the paths of righteousness for Your Name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in Your house forever Lord.   Amen

I.          He is Jehovah-Rophe - The Lord, my Healer

  1. He saved my soul!

He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.

(Isaiah 53:4-6, Matt. 9:2)

B.        God also meets my physiological and psychological (health) needs.(Matt. 9:6-8, Phil 4:19,James 5:14-15)

Sometimes healing has to begin in your head and heart…before it moves to the other sick parts of your body!

II.         God gives me the power to enjoy my life

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over.  (Ecclesiastes 5:18)

The ability to enjoy food is the most basic of life’s joys!

A.        The power to enjoy life is despite our enemy’s presence and plan.

1.         What are the enemies of joyful living?

2.         Healthy life – healthy appetite! (3 John 1:2)

B.        The emphasis is on health in all areas of your life.

1.         The proof of a good shepherd are healthy sheep. (Isaiah 65:22, NIV)

2.         It should be more preventative than reparative or restorative. (1 Timothy 6:17).

Happy wife –happy life! Ecclesiastes 9:9

Happy Heart – Healthy Life! Proverbs 17:22

C.        It is only God who can give you power to enjoy life. 1 Timothy 6:17

1.         God’s anointing is what we need for an overflowing life.

2.      God wants you to “thrive” – not just “survive!”

3.      The Discontent never fill up their cup…let alone overflow. (Ecclesiastes 2:1)

III.        To fill until overflowing – you have to empty it first1 Timothy 6:17 (NIV)

A.        The overflowing life is not just dependant on your intake but in your inner healing!

Common blockages to inner healing:

Need for Control

B.        Empty out your control center by surrendering your worries, fears and stress.

Philippians 4:6-7,   1 Pet. 5:7

You cannot control everything in life; neither can you understand why anything happens in life.

You just have to trust that God is in control and let Him lead you to the next pasture!

C.        Let go – let God!
